After many years of trusting this weather application, I have noticed, recently, that the radar is completely erroneous. This issue has been apparent for several months, when compared to other scans from other applications. Currently, relying on this application for important weather notifications, and safety preparedness, is a foolhardy endeavor. Beware, it is dangerous to trust this weather scan! It is flat out wrong. Additionally, I am utterly astonished that James Spann, a highly reputable meteorologist, would affix his reputation to this abysmal application. Looks like I’m back to relying on The Weather Channel for reliable information.

Very inaccurate

I’ve heard many times that seconds count… but far too many seconds are spent on the meteorologist picture when you first open this app… regardless if you’re opening from an alert/notification or just to browse. It’s EXTREMELY frustrating to receive a serious weather alert and then have to wait what could be CRITICAL seconds to see it because of that precious picture. Out of the 4 weather apps I use, this is the only one that has any delay when opening. So, if seconds count you can’t really count on this app.

These are the apps they tell us to rely on but they are garbage.

Please fix this issue, it’s been going on for months on end. 24 hour radar freezes halfway through…

This is the best radar app I found for our rural area. It covers us when a lot of main stream broadcast overlook our area.

I DO NOT understand why the ABC 33/40 Weather app does not update to match our CORRECT local forecast 🤨 I have come to not trust the ABC 33/40 Weather App 😔 Looking for a weather app that stays more accurate/updated

For months now the 24 hour animation has not worked properly. The animation works for 12 hours on the 24 hour screen but freezes for the last 12 hours. Also, there is no way to advise you of these issues from within the app. As a hunter, fisherman and private pilot having the 24 hour animation can give me a way to plan for the next day. Surprised no one has fixed this issue for the last several months .

I keep my app set on the 24 hr view and when I play it, it stops half way through viewing it. Says there “was” an update, but it doesn’t show there “is” an update in the App Store.

So annoying that the ads/photo of weather team pops up every single time you open it..for several seconds. Looking for a less annoying replacement.

Very frustrating to get an alert that lightening or a heavy rain is in my area, but go to the app and the radar shows nothing. Go to work thinking it’s going to be clear, and boom thunderstorms all day. Give me some dam info. This app is sketchy at best.

I have 4 weather apps, all of them contradict each other, but this app has to be the most inaccurate of all of them, which is odd because this is my local weather station.

Downloaded this app as a suggested replacement for a retired tornado alert app. The problem is that alerts and warnings arrive well after the severe weather alert is issued. Could be a life or death difference in the case of a tornado.

The radar is hardly ever correct!

Last two months ensured phone is up to date but app seems to be delayed consistent issues why? Can’t rely on it any more, maybe time for updates?

The predictions are way off and change constantly,temperatures, rain, snow. Don’t plan your days/weekends by this app! I have cancelled so many plans because of it and the weather be like nothing it predicted. The daily and hourly forecast doesn’t even match up!

This was a good app in the beginning. Very accurate. But not anymore. I cannot believe James Spann promotes this app. It is unreliable. You look at the planned weather just a day or two out and then look again the next day and the temperature jumps or it says sunny weather a day or two before only to change to rainy last minute. I am deleting this app. It is not worth the frustration anymore. Abc33/40 you should be ashamed to have your station’s call letters on this app.

My only minor gripes would be: 1) Every so often when the app updates, the four quick slots will get reset. 2) I tend to get double notifications when a watch is issued. (I think I’m getting notifications for both my saved location and the Follow Me option, despite having notifications disabled for FM.) 3) The radar loop used to let you go back several hours, now it’s just a single hour. Not a huge issue, but it was nice being able to track storm movements.

Where is James and why isn’t he on the opening anymore!? Thumbs down x100. Bring James’ pic back.

No idea what happened to this app, but it no longer predicts accurate weather. It shows deep red storms on top of my location and not a single drop of rain. I understand that spotty thunderstorms are hard to predict, but when the future radar is showing a full line of storms coming through at a specific time and it doesn’t happen for 3-4 hours after the predicted time?Weather.gov has been my go to for accurate weather. Will just be using that from now on.

App is awful when it comes to accuracy. The radar is ridiculously out of sync.

Just updated 7-3-23 and now it’s gone nuts

Now the radar either won’t load or it just flashes.

I don’t know why this last update caused this but when I open the app the radar map opens up to a national map (even though I have a specific location saved). Hopefully in future updates you can resolve this issue.

I’m not sure what happened but now when I open the app it shows me the entire country. I need it to focus on either my home area or where I am - I have it set to follow me. It still sends alerts just fine but when I want to see how close the storms are (important when you have dogs that need meds for bad storms) and I shouldn’t have to zoom in every time. Please fix my favorite weather app.

I truly expect more from a employer of James Spann . This USED to be my go to weather app and I hate I have to look elsewhere for radar service . For the past year the radar has been glitchy or won’t even load, showing a blank screen when rain or storms are on top of us. Please invest in the technology necessary to keep up with your awesome live coverage. I HATE having to go to another app to get needed updates on the weather. And I promise I’m not a competitor giving a bad review, hence stating how bad we need you guys back on top of your game. I’m only giving this review because n hopes that someone that matters will see this and know that not all is well.

Use to be a good app for radar and weather alerts. Now the radar crashes all the time won’t refresh an alerts go off for random things an nothing going on. The past few updates haven’t fixed the issue either only made it worse

When the app opens, the map is enlarged to cover the entire country in spite of having follow me set up. I then have to tap a couple of things to get the map reduced to our area. This is a new bug we have never seen before. Both on my and my wife’s iPhones. Hope this can be fixed.

They update ain’t no good on iPhone u can’t keep it on ur locate when u click the app

I want to like this app, and I do like the radar much better than other apps in terms of accuracy. But if I look at the radar and navigate to another app and back, the radar flashes off and on and I can’t see what I want to see, necessitating me to kill the app and reopen. Such a pain! Please fix this!

Useless without radar!

I have praised this app for years as the best but it’s in decline. Can’t get radar to load with full 5g service. I guess all those ads have priority to load in the background to sell my info before my radar will load. Becoming more inaccurate with time. Time to move on.

Since the last update, the radar is not working. It keeps freezing up. Please fix!!!

I’m a production manager and have used this app for years. The app for us is not as useful because you took the past away. We look at all weather patterns to help make job site calls on concrete pours and there important decisions. Please add the feature back. For now we are looking to other apps for this information. We keep a look out for further updates. Thank you !

****Update. No worries. I’m deleting the app. Weather Bug takes seconds to open and is more accurate to my area since the last update of 3340. I need accuracy and I’m not getting it from 3340. **** It’s stuck on Future since the update. I would love to see the now radar so I can be weather aware. But the option to change the button is no longer available. I had to download Weather Bug to see this option. Please fix this.

To use I have to go to App Store to open. It use to stay on my screen. Help

I have to think the low star rating is from jealous competitors. I have four weather apps on my phone. This one is consistently the most accurate. I’ve been all over the county in the last year. This app follows right along. And it gives me notifications for areas important to me, not just where I am.

This app was great before last update. It no longer gives accurate info for my area. It only gives b’ham weather. We are an hour and half north of b’ham. Def not the same. Very frustrating!! Love the team tho.

I shouldn’t have to get on Facebook to see a live weather report. Why can’t I stream it on this app??! This needs to be fixed!!

Great app, has settings to limit notification, accurate weather reporting and my go to during tornado season to get warning/watches!

Can’t depend on this app. 60 percent of the time it changes the prediction and is never true. Can’t ever plan your day with this app cause it will lie to you

The app is fairly accurate but here are the issues. 1) it takes a LONG time to even load. I love the three of them but I really don’t want to see them that long 2). I don’t really care about the radar as the main thing. I want temp, wind, forecast and rain probability. They’re there but heck they are isolated in the lower left corner in a font that is almost impossible to see. That should be the main focus. If I were you I’d find a different weather app.

Has all the features I would ever need in an uncluttered and easy to use format, and it’s not just for the central Alabama region. I like that I can expand out the view and select overlay options like radar, wind, temp, storm track, etc. My only nit is that upon opening it always takes me directly to “Andover, MA” instead of the Birmingham area - I delete Andover from the list every time but the next time I open the app it takes me right back there and it’s back on my locations list. A glitch? In my iPhone’s settings I do have “(My) Precise location” selected for this app. That said, I can quickly select “Follow me” to get back to my actual location and all is fine after that.

Safari should not be trying to open a Kindle book with this app. There should be no web hook at all for really anything but from the ABC site. Please remove all web hook references and update.

Almost every time we have thunderstorms in the area the radar goes out. When we need it most.

Does not display colored warnings like tornado watch in the map. Have this problem only one one of my phones. Tried every setting and to reinstall. But nothing helps to show the warnings one that phone like on the others

With the most recent iOS updates the app fails when entering certain cities. E.g., Nashville, TN

When I try to save a location, the app crashes. I deleted it and reinstalled three times.
